Mike Visick, Chief Operating Officer for the NIHR Clinical Research Network South West Peninsula, hosted by the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, has announced he will be stepping down from his role in late summer to explore new opportunities.

Mike announced his decision to staff saying: “After three great years I’ve decided that the time is right to move on. I have genuinely loved being Chief Operating Officer for the Clinical Research Network South West Peninsula, working with the very best team in the region.

“We’ve established a collaborative team culture that delivers without fail, working together with our partners to ensure we are able to offer life changing and lifesaving health and care research opportunities to the communities and people we serve.

“I could not be prouder of the team we are and all that we have achieved together. I know I will be proud of how this team goes on to great achievements in the future.

“This has been the most difficult decision, but the time is right to give someone else a chance to do one of the best jobs in the region taking the team into the Regional Research Delivery Network.”

Commenting on the announcement, John Sitzia, Executive Director of the NIHR Research Delivery Network (RDN), said: “I want to thank Mike for his fantastic leadership during his time with the Network. Not only has he been a great leader in the South West, he has also been an integral part of helping us transition into becoming the RDN. Like other colleagues, I will be very sorry to see Mike move on but wish him every success in his new ventures.”

Plans to recruit a successor will be shared in due course.
