On International Day of the Midwife, we would like to say a big “thank you” to all of our wonderful research midwives across the Kent, Surrey and Sussex region.

In the lead-up to the day we asked some research midwives to tell us to complete the sentence “Research is important because…”

We received so many great answers. Here are some of the best:

“It allows us to learn something new – to continually improve”
“It sets us up for the future”
“It improves the health of mums and babies”
“It is vital to improve and find treatments to achieve the best and safest care possible”

Happy International Day of the Midwife to all maternity and neonatal staff, and in particular all the brilliant and hard-working research midwives working across the South East.
