Working in women's and reproductive health research: the DETECT study

Dr Tatjana Gibbons, a DPhil student at Nuffield Department of Women's & Reproductive Health, University of Oxford talks about the DETECT study, which uses a new 20-minute imaging scan to detect the most common types of endometriosis.

Endometriosis is a condition where small pieces of womb lining grow outside of the womb, such as the ovaries and fallopian tubes. Common symptoms include severe pelvic pain and difficulty getting pregnant. 

Currently, endometriosis affects 1 in 10 women and can take years to diagnose through surgery. The DETECT study aims to significantly reduce the wait time for diagnosis through the use of a painless imaging scan.
